DIRECTOR, The Institute for Personal and Professional Development, Inc., a private, non-profit community mental health and training agency. Responsible for all counseling, therapy, and educational services including out-patient employee assistance program; individual, group, and family counseling; parent-infant education and therapy program; geriatric services; mental health education and professional training. Directly provided counseling and psychotherapy, training and consultative services, and supervised staff of counselors, therapists, and trainers. April, 1983 - July,'86.
DIRECTOR OF PREVENTION, Northwestern Community Services Board, a comprehensive community mental health, mental retardation, and substance abuse service system. Established primary prevention services in schools, faculty and staff training, peer counseling projects, adolescent pregnancy and domestic violence projects. Provided consultation with public and private agencies for cooperative community based prevention and early intervention programs. Directly provided counseling, training, and supervision of agency counselors, social workers, psychologists, and prevention specialists.January, 1980 - March, 1983.
TRAINING SPECIALIST, Virginia Division of Youth Services. Specialized in establishing community based programs in group and family counseling such as community youth homes, family oriented group homes, and family intervention units. Provided counselor education in seminars and by co-counseling with trainees. Provided consultative supervision to program directors, counselor supervisors, and counselors. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, Reception and Diagnostic Center. Responsible for all counseling, casework, child management, diagnostic and placement services. Served on task force to plan and implement state-wide development of community based programs. Member and vice-chairman of Central Staffing Committee and Advisory Board for all Richmond area community youth homes. Developed treatment teams and individual treatment planning, group and family counseling, behavioral therapy program. Supervised the school principal, rehabilitation counselors, psychologists, learning center supervisors, food service, maintenance, and storekeeper managers. October, 1971 - June,1973.
